CLAY CENTER is a community that has moved into the new millennium with a solid understanding of the needs of today’s family.

CLAY CENTER takes pride in providing to its citizens: a modern hospital, an airport, excellent progressive schools, Clay County Arts Council, quality retirement facilities, plenty of shopping, growing business and industry, civic organizations, Historical Society and County Museum, Carnegie Library, quality day care for children and Leisure Center for senior citizens.

The Clay Center Area Chamber of Commerce has several annual celebrations.  Among them is Piotique Festival (combining the words “pioneer” and “antique”) with its parade, arts, crafts and other activities the last Saturday in September.  Others include an Easter egg hunt, a citywide garage sale in May, Harvest Festival and Free Street Dance, Independence Day Celebration, Christmas activities, annual sidewalk sale and Halloween Howl costume contest for kids.

For recreation, Clay Center has five lovely parks with picnic areas and a zoo, an outdoor swimming pool, a bowling alley, six lighted tennis courts, both a nine-hole country club golf course and a nine-hole public golf course, and eight ball fields. Two free RV parks are located in Clay Center.  Tuttle Creek Lake, Milford Reservoir and the Steve Lloyd Wetlands are all within a few minutes drive.  Great hunting and fishing are a part of the charm of the area.
